The person behind the studio

About Caleb

Caleb Smith is a musician, producer, and audio engineer received an Undergraduate Degree from McGill University and a Masters from Berklee College of Music. He has taught audio and music production as a professor at Canadore College, right here in North Bay.

Spicy Maple Studios grew out of a simple observation: most producers either make your record for you, or teach you in a classroom disconnected from real sessions. Caleb does both at once: every project is a chance to walk away with a finished record and a better understanding of how it came together.

Young Songwriter Program

Ages 15–19 In Person · North Bay 9 Months Ends in a Live Show

A full school-year (October to June) program for young songwriters, in person at the studio: writing, arranging, and recording original music, building toward a live showcase where every student performs their finished work.

You'll leave witha finished, recorded original song and a live performance under your belt.
